Back in May, I had a special dinner to attend. It wasn’t dressy, but it wasn’t casual either, so it was a challenge to find a dress that would work for the occasion. I decided to wear this Donna Morgan Shift Dress, which I’d bought earlier in the Spring. The one pictured here is available at Amazon.com. I really liked the style of this dress when I tried it on and fortunately for this 50-something (50+1), the dress comes down closer to the knee. Here it looks black but mine is navy. I like the way the print draws your attention to the smallest part of the mid-section and the boat-neck elongates the shoulder line — making the shoulder and hip look more balanced. The polyester and spandex blend made it very comfortable, too. I really enjoyed wearing it the whole evening.
I also wore these shoes by Isaac Mizrahi, which are similar to these black pumps with linen white polka dots. I saw both pairs I knew I couldn’t leave one behind. I haven’t had an opportunity to wear the black ones yet, but I’m thinking that a meeting and lunch meeting afterward in August, might be the perfect opportunity.
As for accessories, I kept it simple with small silver marcasite earrings and a this Murano Glass Bead Bracelet. I wasn’t sure about wearing the green and red with the dress, but when I put it on I really liked the way it looked.
The dinner was lovely and I felt great in my terrific outfit!
